Ebonite is proud to announce the signing of AJ Johnson who will compete on the 2019 Professional Bowlers Association Tour as a member of its pro staff.

During his career, Johnson has won the 2017 World Bowling Champi-onships team gold medal, as well as the bronze in all events and was named the 2017 PBA Midwest Region Player of the Year and is a four-time member of Team USA. He has multiple second-place finishes on the PBA tour and is currently seeking his first title.

Johnson said he’s looking forward to a new beginning with a company he is familiar with.

“I have history here when I was younger,” he said. “I won Junior Gold with an Ebonite ball and set a high school record that holds up nationally with an Ebonite ball.”

“Right now is a really good time to make a change,” he said. “Support means a lot and it makes my focus more intense with the new season coming up.”

Johnson will be joining a formidable line-up under the Ebonite banner which includes 2018 PBA Player of the Year and USBC Masters champion Andrew Anderson, Tommy Jones, who is celebrating his 20th anniversary with the brand this year and has won 16 standard PBA titles, as well as two majors, Ron-nie Russell, who has won four PBA titles, Cristian Azcona, who won his first PBA title this past year, Dino Castillo, Tom Hess, Mike Machuga, Kurt Pilon and Aaron Lorincz.

“We’re coming off an amazing year on tour,” said Rob Gotchall, manager – players and performance. “Andrew (Anderson) is bowling extremely well and Tommy (Jones) remains a threat to win each week.”

“We want to not only build off last year’s success, but surpass it,” Gotchall said. “We firmly believe AJ can be instrumental in helping us achieve that success, while at the same time, help him to attain his goal of winning that first PBA tour title.”

Johnson joined the PBA tour in 2015 and currently resides in Oswego, Illinois.
